ArcheAge Chronicles Character Creation and Customization

ArcheAge Chronicles character creation guide: October 2026 demo appearance options, gender choices and class limits.

    AT A GLANCE

The October Steam demo has a detailed creator with presets, voice, outfit, skin tone, facial, hair, makeup and body-proportion controls. Class gender remains locked in this build; XLGAMES says broader options are in development but will not be in the Next Fest demo. Demo saves do not carry into Early Access.

What can you customize in the October demo?

A walkthrough of the live Steam Next Fest build shows a creator with preset choices and controls for voice, costume gear, skin tone, facial geometry, hair, makeup and body proportions. It also shows elf-like pointed ears. These are observations from the demo interface, not a publisher-published list of every option. One player who tried the same demo called out fine details such as gum color and foot size; exact slider names, ranges, preset counts and color counts are not documented in the official announcements.

The checked sources do not say whether you can reopen the creator after starting, edit your appearance later, or save and reuse a preset. Treat those as unconfirmed until the game or XLGAMES documents them.

How does class limit gender choice?

The October demo retains gender-locked classes. XLGAMES’ October 17 producer letter says work on additional gender options is underway, but specifically says those changes will not be ready for the Steam Next Fest demo. The official announcement confirms the restriction without publishing a full class-by-class gender table.

    • A September network-test player reported Warrior and Berserker as male-locked, and Ranger and Mage as female-locked. That is an older player observation, not an official October matrix; check the live class-creation screen if a particular combination matters.
    • Pointed ears in the creator do not establish a selectable race list. XLGAMES has not published an official race roster or race-to-class table in the sources checked.

    What changes are planned?

In September, producer Ham said the existing gender-locked class system would remain at Early Access launch. By October 17, XLGAMES said development of additional options had begun and would be introduced gradually, starting with selected classes. No class list or rollout date was given, so the public plan is broader choice over time—not a promise that every class will be unlocked at launch.

Will your demo character carry into Early Access?

No. XLGAMES says demo progress and save data will not carry into Early Access. Treat the character you build in the Next Fest demo as a temporary test character; the announcement does not specify whether a future character creator will preserve or import appearance settings.
